during our visit of Sakai City we ware able to join a tea ceremony with a real tea master. We would like to thank so much to Mrs. Izumi Yoshida from Seiko Trading Co. LTD for the invitation and organisation.

In the early times the tea ceremony was only for the privilege people. But a monk and Zen-Master from Sakai spread the rituals and rules to ordinary people so it become more popular.

It was very interesting to see the passion and celebrating of making tee. It is definitely not the fasters way to get a tea but the relaxed and more appreciative one.

The ceremony itself is build on many rituals that have to be studied by heart. Almost each hand movement is prescribed. But in this post I will only describe to ones basically for the guests.

At first you will get a sweet little  cake or bun which will balance the taste of the bitter green matcha tea in your mouth.

After you get your tea cup, which is a special color and design and is been chosen by the tea master specially for you and the current season you can thank the host and drink up with three sips and the last one as a little bit louder slurp.

Also the decoration of the meeting room represents the current season and the cause of the meeting with a written phrase.
